“Resin price hikes plague processors,”"PP market hit with double-digit increase," say recent headlines in Plastics News magazine. The increases are often justified by pointing to higher prices for feedstocks, but that is no consolation to buyers, and as the latter article points out, “Who’s more likely to absorb these increases? Your local injection molders, blow molders and film extruders, or Wal-Mart, Target and Costco?” You could substitute the names Ford, GM, and Chrysler to make that sentence automotive-industry-specific and also to arrive at a question that is currently under exploration and discussion thanks to IRN’s 2011 Materials Pricing Survey. Join us for the OESA Breakfast Briefing on Thursday, June 16th for an overview of the landscape in the dynamics of raw material prices on the rise. Click here for more information or to register.
